3rd Message - Wednesday, September 27
Good Morining.
Early this morning (in the wee hours of Pacific Time Zone) I shared the Call For Proposals information for the Spring 2018 conference. In my original message the link to access the documents was incorrect and therefore I sent a second message shortly after. Today I am sending my 3rd message because it was brought to my attention that I provided the wrong dates for the conference. I suppose the 3rd times the charm. Please note the conference dates on the website and Call for Proposals is correct. It was in this message the dates were wrong. I have updated the dates below and including here: Wednesday, March 14 - Friday, March 16,018.
As always, thank you your patience and I am sorry for any further confusion I may have caused again.

1st Message - Wednesday, September 27
Greetings,
On behalf of the National Council on Rehabilitation Education (NCRE) I am excited to invite you to the 18th Annual National Rehabilitation Educators Conference in Anaheim CA, to be held on March 14-16, 2018.
Our 2018 conference is an opportunity for rehabilitation counselor educators, practitioners, researchers, trainers, and students to submit proposals that address future directions in rehabilitation counselor education and research. The theme of this year’s conference encourages proposals focusing on current issues in counselor education, practice, and research with an emphasis on how we can serve people with disabilities in a more efficient and integrated manner.
The conference theme “Imagine the Possibilities: Reinventing Rehabilitation Counseling in the 21st Century” encourages proposals focusing on current issues in counselor education, practice, and research with an emphasis on how can we take rehabilitation counselor education to that next level.
As you prepare your proposal, please ask yourself “Does my project include implications for rehabilitation counselor education?”
The conference features the following tracks that must respond to the theme
Co-Morbid Disorders: Assessment, Interventions, and Access to Treatment
Disability and Employment: A Public Health Issue
Health Inequities and Barriers to Service Among Marginalized Individuals, including the LGBTQIA Community
Emerging Topics in Disability-Related Research
Enhancing Health and Wellness among Consumers, Counselors, Educators, and Students
Enhancing Multicultural Competencies Among Counselors–In–Training and Practitioners
International Rehabilitation: Current, New, and Promising Relationships
Public Policies and Legislation Impacting Individuals with Disabilities
Rehabilitation Education: Current Practices and Future Directions
Undergraduate Rehabilitation Education: Best Practices and Outcomes
NCRE seeks to enrich and broaden the content for the conference by featuring the following presentation formats
Concurrent Presentation Proposal
Seminar Presentation Proposal
Professional Scientific Poster Presentation Proposal
Student Scientific Poster Presentation Proposal (Undergraduate, Graduate and Doctoral Students will review this Call for Proposals and submit proposal through this online form).
Please be sure to read through all of the components of the Call for Proposals. Every year there are changes, so reviewing all pages is critical even if you have submitted a spring conference proposal before.
Dr. William “Bill” Downey Scientific Poster Presentation Award Fund
Dr. Bill Downey was a Professor in the Rehabilitation Counseling in the Department of Disability and Psychoeducational Studies at The University of Arizona – the very same department where he completed his PhD in 1979. Bill dedicated his life to the field of rehabilitation counseling and provided his expertise and passion in various capacities for over 35 years.
Inspired by his commitment to recognize research by students, NCRE established the Dr. William “Bill” Downey Scientific Poster Presentation Award to annually support students to attend the NCRE training conference to interact with rehabilitation educators and professionals.
The Lead Review Team will select the top 3 Scientific Poster Proposals submitted by a Student Member of NCRE to be considered for the Award. More details on eligibility, requirements, selection process, and the awards can be found in the STUDENT SCIENTIFIC CFP.
