The University of Alabama is seeking applicants for two Tenure-Track Assistant Professor positions, one for Clinical Mental Health Counseling and one for School Counseling . The University of Alabama, Assistant Professor of Counselor Education, Clinical Mental Health Counseling (Tenure Track)



Number of Open Positions: 1

Position Summary and Responsibilities:

·       Teach graduate courses in both clinical mental health counselor education and general counselor education curriculum

·       Develop and pursue a sustained research agenda resulting in publications and external funding

·       Participate in program initiatives, advising, and faculty decisions

Minimum Qualifications:

·       Earned doctorate in Counselor Education and meet faculty requirements for teaching in a CACREP accredited program with a specialty in Clinical Mental Health Counselor (degree by date of hire)

·       Knowledge, skills, and training in CMHC curriculum and ability to provide clinical supervision to Master’s and doctoral level students

·       Experience and/or ability to teach campus and distance courses

Preferred Qualifications:

·       Broad-based experience serving varied populations of individuals with mental health problems

·       A record of research productivity

·       Work experience in clinical mental health counseling

·       Experience teaching as a faculty member, graduate teaching assistant, or doctoral intern within a counselor education program

·       National Certified Counselor, NCC

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Starting Date: August 16, 2018

·       Expertise in counselor training and supervision with ability to teach practicum and doctoral supervision

·       Work experience and interest in teaching school specialty and core counseling courses

·       Experience and ability to teach campus and distance courses

Preferred Qualifications:

·       Experience in teaching as a faculty member, graduate teaching assistant, or doctoral intern within a counselor education program

·       Willingness to coordinate the school counseling program

·       National Certified Counselor, NCC

·       A record of research productivity
