In order to provide optimal care to our clients and to promote wellness among staff members, we must begin the process of examining and improving our cultural competency. Dr. Hakeem Lumumba’s webinar on Thursday, October 19, at 2:00-3:00 PM EDT will encourage participants to create a culturally safe environment for their stakeholders, analyze their cultural competency barriers, and apply both the Motivational Interviewing Model and Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs to improve their cultural competency.
[http://www.csi-net.org/resource/resmgr/images-people_2/Hakeem_Lumumba.jpg]Hakeem Lumumba, Ph.D., CAADC, MAT, CCS-M, LMSW, LPC, NCC, ACS has over 30 years of clinical experience. The Kubler-Ross model (D.A.B.D.A.) is no longer [http://www.csi-net.org/resource/resmgr/images-people_2/Claudia_Sadler-Gerhardt.jpg] the preferred model for grief counseling. On Wednesday, October 25, at 2:00-3:00 PM EDT, Dr. Claudia Sadler-Gerhardt will discuss several newer evidence-based theories beyond stage and task models. Participants will also consider non-death related losses, the importance of understanding loss from within the client’s contextual environment, and the significance of our own attitudes and values about loss and death. Dr. Sadler-Gerhardt's bio is included on the registration webpage<http://www.csi-net.org/link.asp?e=bhatc@ohio.edu&job=3109381&ymlink=167866936&finalurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Ecsi%2Dnet%2Eorg%2Fevent%2FWebinar%2D2017%2D10%2D25>.
