Dr. Robinson,

My name is Alex Barton. I am a doctoral student in the Counseling Department at the University of Memphis. I am currently conducting my dissertation research and would like to invite your counseling students to participate. At this time I only need 6 more rehabilitation counseling students for my survey.

I am studying the perceived preparedness of clinical mental health, rehabilitation, and school counseling students to counsel children. If you decide to forward this email to students, they will be asked to fill out a brief survey. In particular, students will be asked if they have had any clinical experience working with children or any coursework related to counseling children. Clinical experience and coursework related to children is not necessary for participation in this study. No identifying information will be included in the survey.

If students feel uncomfortable answering any of the questions they are free to stop the survey at any time. While the participants are not expected to benefit directly from this research it will help further the field of counseling by exploring current state of counseling student’s preparation to counsel children.

If you will allow your students to participate I am asking that you forward this letter to them, as well as the survey link attached at the bottom with instructions to click the link and participate if they so choose.
