M.S. in Rehabilitation and Career Counseling Program

The Department of Addictions and Rehabilitation Studies in the College of Allied Health Sciences at East Carolina University is seeking a full-time fixed-term or tenure track faculty member at the rank of assistant professor or associate professor to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and to coordinate the Rehabilitation and Career Counseling program. This is a 12-month appointment.

The Department of Addictions and Rehabilitation Studies includes the Rehabilitation and Career Counseling Master's Degree program (begun in 1967); the Substance Abuse and Clinical Counseling Master's Degree Program (1988); the B.S. in Rehabilitation Services (1994), and the Ph.D. Program in Rehabilitation Counseling and Administration (2005). Enrollment includes 22 doctoral, 60 masters, and 57 undergraduate students.

The Department has 10.5 state-funded positions, state-of-the-art classrooms and counseling labs, and an in-house counseling clinic, Navigate, staffed by graduate students and faculty.

East Carolina University is a Doctoral/Research University located in Greenville, North Carolina. With a student body of over 28,000 students, it is an expanding institution that is the medical center of eastern North Carolina. University health facilities include a medical school, a large regional hospital, a health education center, and the Colleges of Allied Health Sciences, Nursing, and the School of Dental Medicine. East Carolina University enjoys a strong regional and growing national reputation.

Known as the Emerald City and positioned on the Carolina coastal plain, Greenville is a city of approximately 87,000. Located on the Tar River about 20 miles from the Pamlico Sound and 70 miles from the white sand beaches of the Crystal Coast, the area is a renowned destination for sailing, boating, fishing, surfing, kite boarding, kayaking, and water skiing.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must possess a doctoral degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or a closely related mental health field (ABD with completion by employment date will be considered); and possess experience and eligibility for certification as a rehabilitation counselor (CRC) and licensure as a professional counselor (LPC) in North Carolina.

Preferred Education and Experience: The ideal candidate will have graduated from a CORE/CACREP accredited master's and/or doctoral program and have experience in online instruction. Expertise is desired in psychiatric, multicultural, and human growth & development with demonstrated success in research and grants.
