> CRCC Seeks Volunteers for 
> Upcoming Item Writing Workshop
> CRCC is once again planning for our annual Item Writing Workshop. CRCC relies on the expertise of certified professionals in the field of rehabilitation counseling to develop new items for the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) examination. Participants not only lend their expertise to the profession and to CRCC, but also gain a wealth of knowledge with regard to the item writing process and are able to network with other professionals in the field. 
> 
> The next Item Writing Workshop is scheduled for Thursday, October 15, 2015  through Saturday, October 17, 2015 and will be held in Schaumburg, Illinois.  It is a two and one-half day Workshop.  Participants will be required to arrive on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 and depart on Saturday, October 17, 2015 after 3:00 p.m.

> CRCC provides the following for participation in the Item Writing Workshop: 
> Hotel accommodations will be made for participants for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights at the expense of CRCC;
> Meals will be reimbursed in accordance with CRCC's reimbursement policy;
> Economy class air transportation will be provided to and from your nearest airport to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport at the expense of CRCC; and
> 18 hours of continuing education credits will be granted to each participant.  Nine hours for attendance at the Workshop and nine hours upon completion of the assigned number of written items. 
> In order to populate our item pool in needed areas, we will be asking Workshop participants to write items to the following content areas:
> ASSESSMENT, APPRAISAL, AND VOCATIONAL EVALUATION 
> The test and evaluation techniques available for assessing clients' needs
> Psychometric concepts related to measurement (e.g., reliability, validity, standard error or measurement)
> Interpretation of assessment results for rehabilitation planning purposes
> Computer-based and on-line assessment tools
> JOB DEVELOPMENT, JOB PLACEMENT, AND CAREER AND LIFESTYLE DEVELOPMENT 
> Theories of career development and work adjustment
> Vocational implications of functional limitations associated with disabilities
> Demand-side employment issues related to hiring, return to work, and retention
> VOCATIONAL CONSULTATION AND SERVICES FOR EMPLOYERS 
> The workplace culture, environment, and business terminology
> Marketing strategies and techniques for rehabilitation services
> Employer development for job placement
> Consultation process with employers related to management of disability issues in the workplace 
> CASE MANAGEMENT, PROFESSIONAL ROLES AND PRACTICES, AND UTILIZATION OF COMMUNITY RESOURCES 
> Case management tools
> Techniques for working with individuals with limited English proficiency
> Human resource practices, diversity in the workplace, and workplace supports for people with disabilities
> Organizational structure of rehabilitation counseling practice settings (e.g., public, private-for-profit, and not for profit service delivery systems)
> Community resources and services for rehabilitation planning
> Healthcare benefits and delivery services
> Laws and public policy affecting individuals with disabilities
> FOUNDATIONS OF COUNSELING, PROFESSIONAL ORIENTATION AND ETHICAL PRACTICE, THEORIES, SOCIAL AND CULTURAL ISSUES, AND HUMAN GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
> Individual counseling theories
> Individual counseling practices and interventions
> Risk management and professional ethical standards
> MEDICAL, FUNCTIONAL, AND PSYCHOSOCIAL ASPECTS OF DISABILITY
> Medical aspects and implications of various disabilities
> The psychosocial and cultural impact of disability on the family
> Work conditioning or work hardening resources and strategies
> RESEARCH, PROGRAM EVALUATION, AND EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICE
> Evidence-based psychiatric rehabilitation practices
