Tenure-Track Assistant or Associate Professor (Mental Health Counseling)

The University of North Alabama invites applications for a position for a tenure-track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in the Department of Counselor Education to teach Master's level core counseling courses in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program.  Rank will be based on prior experience, demonstrated scholarly performance, and professional activity.  

The successful candidate will have the ability to supervise, advise, mentor, and recruit students; participate in the enhancement of university and community relationships; assist with curriculum development and accreditation planning; engage in research, publication and other scholarly activities; and serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
This position is open until filled.

Minimum Qualifications:   An earned doctorate in Counselor Education; experience in the area of Mental 
Health Counseling; professional identity as a Mental Health Counselor; commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students; potential for excellence in instruction; evidence of potential for achievement in research, publication, and other scholarly activities; record of participation in professional organizations; and a commitment to addressing the counseling needs of diverse populations. 

Desired Qualifications:  An earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP Accredited institution; eligibility to be licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Alabama; National Certified Counselor designation; university teaching experience; and experience in curriculum development, accreditation and program planning. 

Date Position is Available:  August 2014.
