Mercer University-Atlanta invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Counseling, a nine month, two year renewable non-tenure track position in the College of Continuing and Professional Studies Department of Counseling and Human Sciences beginning August 1, 2013. The individual selected for the position will teach core counseling courses and required statistics and methodology courses and serve as statistician for the doctoral program in counselor education and supervision.

Requirements for the position include a doctoral degree in counselor education from a regionally accredited university and preferably from a CACREP accredited program; licensure or licensure eligibility as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia; evidence of excellence in teaching; evidence of experience with research methodology and advanced statistical analysis including experience with SPSS; evidence of potential for establishing a successful record of research and publication; experience with diverse populations in a counseling setting; knowledge of CACREP standards; and professional experience in the counseling field. Responsibilities include: teaching the equivalent of three courses each semester at the graduate level in traditional and non-traditional formats; advising doctoral students on methodology and statistical analysis; continuing an active research, publication, and presentation agenda; student advising; serving on department and college committees; and contributing to the university's mission. Professional accomplishments that demonstrate creativity and energy, self -direction, and the ability to work with a highly motivated team are important attributes of the successful candidate.

Established in 1833, Mercer University is a private, comprehensive institution of more than 8300 students enrolled in 11 colleges and schools with campuses located in Macon, Atlanta, and Savannah and regional academic centers located throughout the state of Georgia. The College offers Master's degrees in clinical mental health counseling, school counseling, and rehabilitation counseling as well as the Ed.S. in School Counseling and the Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision.
