The College of Education at NorthernIllinois University is seeking an energetic and creative chair that willprovide effective, forward-thinking leadership for the Department of Counseling Adultand Higher Education. The department offers M.S. Ed. and Ed.D. degrees incounseling and in adult and higher education. 
 
The department chair serves as thedepartment’s primary academic and administrative officer, and is accountable directlyto the Dean of the College of Education for all aspects of development andoperation of the department, including budget, curriculum, personnel, andresource allocation. The chair will work with approximately 15 regularcontinuing faculty, as well as supportive professional staff, part-timeinstructional staff, operating staff, and approximately 500 students. NIU’s Counselor Education & Supervision was therecent recipient of the Leo G. BentAward for Outstanding Professional Counseling Program in Illinois as well as receivingCACREP accreditation through 2019.
 
 
The Adultand Higher Education program provides dynamic,challenging, and engaging coursework on topics such as: ethics, leadership andadministration, program planning, community development, social justice, adultlearning theory, educational policy analysis, student development, continuingprofessional education, program assessment and evaluation. In addition studentscan receive practical hands-on experiences gained through internships,assistantships, and study abroad programs to such counties as Brazil, China,Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Taiwan.
