>> Integrated Disability lies within the Benefits department of The Ohio State University Office of Human Resources.  The department assists faculty and staff in linking with appropriate disability benefits, including Short and Long Term Disability, workers' compensation, and state retirement systems.  Additionally, Integrated Disability oversees the disability separation process, coordinates leaves, remain-at-work and return-to-work services, unemployment benefits, and other programs for employees that  become disabled.

>> Under the direction of the Team Lead for Transitional Work, the Disability Program Manager provides proactive individualized case management services for employees with occupational and/or non-occupational illnesses and injuries. The position is charged with determining an employee’s accommodation needs to assist them in achieving employment goals and coordinates efforts with various entities, including medical providers, managed care organizations, disability carriers, OSU ancillary services, third party administrators (TPA), and state agencies to assure continuity of care. Along with overseeing daily claim activities, the Disability Program Manager drafts and implements return-to-work plans and recommendations for employees, and provides vocational rehabilitation services. While maintaining consistent contact with the employee, the position works closely with departments across the university to ensure the successful execution of these return-to-work plans. Collaborations include the Americans with Disabilities Act Coordinator, legal services and department human resources to evaluate permanent accommodation requests and ensure compliance with state and federal policies.

>> The Disability Program Manager utilizes a sophisticated claims management system that aids in case documentation and reporting.  The extensive documentation of cases and development of valuable reports ensures compliance with state and federal polices and helps to better serve university employees and departments. In addition to tracking data within the department, the Disability Program Manager works with business partners across the university to provide disability trending data, return-to-work statistics, and OSHA data entry functions as needed. This individual also provides training tools and training related to disability benefits and services to assigned customer groups.

>> The Environment 
>> This position reports to the Team Lead for Transitional Work within Integrated Disability. The Integrated Disability department is under the direction of the Manager of Integrated Disability and Unemployment and the Associate Director of Benefits within the Office of Human Resources. A successful candidate will possess strong organizational skills and be able to address multiple projects at the same time.  A high volume of cases coupled with outside project work can be expected.   In addition to the external collaborations with vendors and university departments highlighted above, there is also a strong collaborative culture within the department of Integrated Disability.  In addition to the Disability Program Manager role, the Integrated Disability team is also comprised of Claims Managers, a Job Developer, and an onsite Physical Therapist.

>> The successful candidate for this position will accomplish the following:
>> ·        Develop a thorough understanding of the university’s disability programs, policies and procedures as well as federal regulations such as FMLA and ADAAA.
>> Identify candidates for remain at work, transitional work and return-to-work within departments assigned.
>> ·        Establish partnerships with departments and academic units within the position’s range of responsibility to effectively and efficiently navigate the return-to-work and interactive accommodation process.
>> ·        Maintain consistent communication with faculty and staff, vendors, departmental contacts, and medical providers to coordinate efforts and ensure continuity of care and improvements for employees.
>> Effectively utilize disability databases to document case activity in a timely and accurate manner, generate and present reports and provide disability trending and return-to-work information to departments.

>> Experience Requirements
>> The successful candidate for this position will have demonstrated success in several areas, including:
>> ·        Bachelor's Degree in social sciences, special education, rehabilitation services, psychology or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
>> ·        Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling preferred;
>> ·        Certificate in vocational rehabilitation and at least two to four years of vocational rehabilitation experience;
>> ·        Two to four years of case management experience;
>> ·        Experience counseling and working with employees regarding disability benefits, leave policies and other benefits;
>> ·        Working knowledge of the ADAAA and the other laws addressing the rights  of people with disabilities;
>> ·        Proven leadership qualities and negotiating skills, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities;
