FACULTY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
___________________________________________________
DEPARTMENT OF COUNSELOR EDUCATION AND COUNSELING PSYCHOLOGY

Marquette University

Tenure-Track Assistant or Associate Professor Starting Fall, 2014

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have an earned doctorate either in Counselor Education, ideally from a CACREP-accredited program, or a related degree with a year or more of experience teaching in a counselor education program. We are particularly interested in applicants with a clinical focus in addictions, or crisis and trauma; and who have a breadth of clinical mental health counseling experiences. Teaching and research interest areas are open, although preference will be given to applicants with expertise in one or more of the following areas: statistics and research methods; diagnosis, assessment and treatment; crisis and trauma counseling; or addictions/co-occurring disorders. Applicants may be ABD, but the doctoral degree must be completed by August 15, 2014. The successful applicant will have evidence of strong teaching and supervision skills, capacity to maintain a program of research, multicultural counseling competence and a commitment to social justice advocacy. Immediate eligibility for Wisconsin licensure is desirable. Faculty who would contribute to the cultural diversity of our faculty are strongly encouraged to apply.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION
The department seeks applicants with broad expertise and experience in clinical mental health counseling to teach courses in the counseling core and clinical mental health counseling. Faculty
responsibilities include teaching and advising in the counseling programs, maintaining a strong program of research, and participating in professional and community service. In addition, all faculty members contribute to curriculum development, program assessment and other administrative tasks.

RANK AND SALARY
The appointment will be made at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Salary is competitive and based upon the applicant’s qualifications and experience. To be recommended for tenure, the faculty member must demonstrate satisfactory performance in three areas: teaching effectiveness; research and scholarship; and service to the Department, University, Profession, and Community. Tenure at Marquette may be awarded at any time with the typical period for tenure and promotion to Associate Professor of six to seven years. At the Associate Professor rank, years towards tenure may be granted based on prior tenure-track experience. Although tenure may be granted at any time, it is typically granted with promotion to the level of Associate Professor.

THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology (CECP) is located in the College of Education with 7 full-time faculty members, and 63 masters and 22 doctoral students. The Department offers two masters degree counseling programs; a 60-hour program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (with optional specializations in Child and Adolescent Counseling and Addictions Counseling) and a 48-hour School Counseling program, as well as an APA accredited doctoral program in Counseling Psychology. All three programs integrate multicultural perspectives, social justice and advocacy throughout the curriculum. The department is pursuing CACREP accreditation and the initial site visit scheduled for April of 2014. The College of Education is accredited by NCATE. All programs are approved by their respective Wisconsin State Regulatory Boards for meeting the educational requirements for licensure.
