Position:
Assistant/Associate Professor of Counselor Education – Tenure Track

Responsibilities:
Teach, supervise clinical experiences, and advise students in a Master’s level CACREP accredited clinical mental health and school counseling program. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: teaching courses in CACREP core and counseling specialty areas; providing clinical supervision to master’s level students; producing a focused line of research leading to publications in refereed journals and to extramural funding; advising and mentoring students; working with faculty in the Counselor Education program and with those entities affiliated with the program; participating actively in professional organizations and university committees and developing hybrid and online courses for hybrid programs at the Master’s and Ed.S. levels.

Qualifications:
Doctorate in Counseling or Counselor Education; emphasis and work experience in clinical mental health or school counseling preferred; graduate of CACREP accredited program preferred; NCC certification; eligible for licensure as a Professional Counselor and Board Qualified Supervisor in Mississippi; evidence of clinical competence, successful teaching experience, and excellence in scholarly achievement (e.g., research, publications, and presentations); demonstrated potential for leadership in school or clinical mental health counseling. Training/Credentialing in play therapy a plus.

Additional Information:
At Delta State University, we offer our students a unique pre-practicum experience which includes the opportunity to work with volunteer non-helping seeking clients in our on-campus departmental laboratory. In addition, we have recently opened a clinic staffed by internship students offering free play therapy services to children and adolescents in the community.
