The Department of Counseling Psychology in the Graduate School of Education and 
Counseling at Lewis & Clark College invites applications for a full-time 
tenure-track appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank for the 
Professional Mental Health and Addiction Counseling program, beginning August 
2013. The Department of Counseling Psychology at Lewis & Clark College is 
grounded in a strong commitment to equity and social justice. 

The Professional Mental Health and Addiction Counseling program offers 
graduate-level counselor training reflective of a research and evidence-based 
integrated model for understanding and treating mental health disorders, 
co-occurring disorders, and addictions. The program also has certificate course 
work specific to working with problem gambling and eating disorders.  We prepare 
highly skilled, motivated, and compassionate professionals. We are committed to 
an approach that integrates a deep concern for equity and social justice 
throughout our curriculum and supervised training model.
We are looking for a colleague with the requisite knowledge and expertise in 
mental health and addiction counseling who shares our vision and commitment to 
these principles through action in our personal and professional lives and in 
our communities. 
Responsibilities
•	Teach graduate courses in mental health and addiction counseling, as well as 
other clinically focused areas
•	Provide supervision for practicum and internship counselors while in training 
at the Lewis & Clark Community Counseling Center and other community-based 
placement sites
•	Maintain a program of scholarship and research activities
•	Collaborate on curriculum and program development in the Professional Mental 
Health and Addiction Counseling program
•	Collaborate closely with other faculty on community-based projects
•	Serve on various departmental and school-wide committees
•	Participate in professional development activities and community service
•	Advocate for the Professional Mental Health and Addiction Counseling 
profession nationally and regionally
•	Participate in program assessment and accreditation   
Qualifications
•	Ph.D. in Counselor Education is preferred; candidates with a doctorate in a 
closely related field will be considered
•	Oregon-licensed LPC or license eligible 
•	Master’s level addiction counseling certification or eligibility
•	Teaching and supervision experience at the graduate level
•	A record of scholarship with articulated agenda relating to program and 
department goals
•	Experience working as a community-based professional counselor with a 
dual-diagnosis understanding and perspective 
•	Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of mental health and addiction 
counseling from a community-based social justice perspective
•	Experience with CACREP graduate counselor training and supervision, as well as 
accreditation processes, preferred
•	Knowledge of working with problem gambling and disordered eating preferred
