> Academic Preparation
> An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in counselor education or a related field with an emphasis in counseling and student services, preferably from a CACREP accredited institution, is preferred for appointment. Candidates nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered; however, for continued employment in a tenure-track position the doctorate must be completed by 7/30/2014. Preference will be given to candidates who do or will possess the doctorate prior to August 2013. Qualifying degrees must be from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent.

> Position Characteristics
> The Counselor Education Program at CSUF includes three master's degrees in counseling with options in Student Affairs and College Counseling, Counseling and Student Services, and, in Marriage and Family Therapy (CACREP accredited). The Program includes the Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) K-12 school counseling credential. Because the population within our service region is 65% Latino, the successful candidate will have K-12 counseling and student service experience working with the Latino community. The successful candidate will teach core courses in counseling and student services, with a K-12 emphasis, and may have the opportunity to supervise students engaged in field practice as well as in research endeavors. Specific assignments are dependent on departmental needs and the background of the individual.

> The successful candidate will join a university-wide cohort of faculty that will develop teaching, research, and outreach initiatives that focus on multiculturalism in the United States. Other responsibilities include working with faculty on program planning, evaluation, student advising, and, accreditation. The successful candidate will be able to work with students, staff, and faculty of diverse ethnic and cultural perspectives, and have the opportunity to participate in scholarly collaboration with department faculty as well as with faculty across campus. Outcomes assessment and service learning are important components of the university curriculum. > Expertise in working with Latinos in K-12 counseling and student services is preferred. Experience in K-12 educational disparities, educational assessment, and counseling practicum and supervision is desirable. The successful candidate will have knowledge of counselor education systems and should demonstrate skills in counseling research, ability to direct and supervise student research projects/theses, and be familiar with K-12 counseling and student service models. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching, research, and scholarly activities, including successful grantsmanship efforts and research publications. Our preferred candidate would have the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.
