Greetings Professional Colleagues! Your Association exists inform, advocate for, and provide professional leadership to Ohio's school counselors.  As the chair of the Advocacy Committee, I wanted to let you know we are actively working on a school counselor evaluation system to recommend to the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Education Association.  The task force on this project includes myself (advocacy at ohioschoolcounselor.org<mailto:advocacy at ohioschoolcounselor.org>) and Eileen McGarvey (eileenmcgarvey at ohioschoolcounselor.org<mailto:eileenmcgarvey at ohioschoolcounselor.org>), Kris Owen (kris_owen at plsd.us<mailto:kris_owen at plsd.us>), Terry Wood (district11 at ohioschoolcounselor.org<mailto:district11 at ohioschoolcounselor.org>), Kathy Goins (kathy.goins at pickawayross.com<mailto:kathy.goins at pickawayross.com>), and Sarah Collins (s_collins at lancaster.k12.oh.us<mailto:s_collins at lancaster.k12.oh.us>).

Our timeline to complete this project:
> December 1st   >> First draft due to committee for review and comment
> January 18th  >>    Revised draft to full Governing Board for review and comment
> February 8th  >> Submit final draft to Governing Board for Approval and posting to website
> March 1st  >> Submit approved package with recommendations to ODE and OEA

The final board-approved document will be posted on the OSCA website for all Ohio school counselors to review.  I want this process to be as transparent as possible.  OSCA views this opportunity as a defining moment in our professional history in Ohio, and a giant leap forward in the development of our professional identity.
