Dear Colleagues:
I am excited to offer the opportunity for a CR (clinical resident) or a masters/doctoral level counseling student in need of an internship at The Wellness Center (980 S. Byrne Rd.)here in Toledo, OH to work treating Opioid Dependent patients.
The position is currently available and will be filled once an appropriate candidate is located. The successful candidate will:
* Work Mondays and Wednesdays to start. The expectation is from 9:00 AM-7:00 PM.
* Will be working on a interdisciplinary treatment team.
* Co-facilitating group counseling.
* Assisting the treatment team with the intake process.
* Completing psychosocial assessments.
* Possibility facilitating individual, couples, and/or family counseling.
* Receive supervision without a charge from myself.
* Needs to be able to make a six month commitment to the position.
Important aspects to consider before applying:
* Patients are receiving pharmacological treatment.
* Will need to make a commitment to engage in substance abuse counseling (at your expense if there is one).
* Over 50% of the patients are dual diagnosis patients.
* Will have an understanding of the following dynamics: systemic approach to treatment, multicultural and diversity counseling, socioeconomic populations, and gender issues.
* Supervision will be both individual and triadic.
* Supervision is from the cognitive complexity model from the feminist approach to supervision.
* Treatment is conducted from a Spiritual Perspective using Christian values. All faiths, spiritual backgrounds and religious backgrounds are represented in treatment, the approach is from Christian values. Patients freely explore and share their spiritual and religious values and viewpoints. We have treated clients that are atheist, Jewish, Islamic, Pagan, Mormon, WICCA, and without any particular beliefs. However, upon entering treatment, patients are informed about the Christain approach to treatment.
* A significant portion our population are living in poverty conditions and lack the necessities of life. Often sobriety is secondary to getting food for the week. Reading "Bridges Out of Poverty" is expected before beginning.
* Most of our patients are self referred (not court orders).
* Counseling is conducted from a compassionate and respectful manner, not an "in your face" approach.
* Use of evidenced-based practices is expected.
* Stipend is based upon experience and other related factors.
