Executive Director of The Connecticut Counseling Association

The Connecticut Counseling Association invites applications for the position of Executive Director of the Connecticut Counseling Association with administrative responsibilities beginning on/or before December 1, 2011.  As the oldest state branch of the American Counseling Association, CCA is an organization which represents professional counselors, graduate students in professional counseling, and others in related fields. CCA provides a professional identity at the state level and its members promote professional growth and networking through its three divisions and two regional chapters. The unique needs of many counseling specialties are addressed and supported by CCA.  CCA recently received the 2011 ACA Branch Best Innovative Practice Award for the North Atlantic Region, where members were honored for our successful licensure revision and legislative agenda focused on strengthening professional counselor scope of practice.   This is a part-time twelve (12) month position, requiring knowledge of the counseling profession, strong interpersonal communication skills, along with administrative competencies necessary to manage association membership along with website communication with members.  The Executive Director will provide support to and be supported by the CCA President,  Executive Council and Governing Council.  The Executive Director will work closely with the CCA Treasurer to collaboratively manage association fiscal resources.  The Executive Director will support CCA Divisions and Chapters as they organize and plan training, workshops and conferences for CCA members and other interested mental health professionals.  Finally, the Executive Director will help to field questions from non professionals about the association and counseling profession. Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have or demonstrate 1) A Masters Degree in Counseling; 2) licensure as a Professional Counselor (or be license eligible) as a professional counselor (LPC) in the state of CT; 3) competency in administrative and information management sufficient to manage the membership, communication and financial functions of the CCA website; and 4) possess evidence of interest in and understanding of the counseling profession.
