Subject: Assistance with Dissertation Study

Dear CACREP Representative:

My name is Kathleen Brown-Rice and I am requesting your assistance in recruiting participants to take part in an online survey as part of my dissertation requirements for a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in counseling at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC).  The purpose of this proposed study is to examine pre-service counselors' observations and knowledge of classmates' problems of professional competency (PPC), how PPC impact pre-service counselors, and pre-service counselors' knowledge of their programs procedures for addressing these classmates.  Your institution's program was identified as a CACREP-accredited program from the on-line directory listed on the official CACREP website.

Prospective participants who consent to being included in this study will be asked to complete an online survey which includes four sections: a) Section I: Demographic Information, b) Section II: Pre-Service Counselors' Knowledge of Classmates' Problems of Professional Competency, c) Section III: Pre-Service Counselors' Perceptions of the Impact of Classmates' Problems of Professional Competency, and (d) Section IV: Pre-Service Counselors' Knowledge of Program's Protocol for Addressing Problems of Professional Competency.  Participation should take no longer than 15 minutes, and all responses will remain anonymous.

If you are willing to assist, please forward the attached e-mail describing the study to master's students currently enrolled in your CACREP-accredited program.
