WORK Journal

CALL FOR PAPERS
You are invited and encouraged to participate in a Special Issue of WORK: A 
Journal of Prevention, Assessment and Rehabilitation (IOS Press) which will 
focus exclusively on the topic of Cancer and Work.

SCOPE
Researchers, physicians, nurses, rehabilitation specialists, psychologists, 
social workers, public health practitioners and teachers are invited to submit 
manuscripts on topics related to cancer and work. Cancer and work can be 
conceptualized in a variety of ways, including:
•Employees’ experiences with return to work during or after cancer treatment 
•Child, adolescents’ or adults’ experiences in the role of student during or after 
cancer treatment 
•Young adults’ transition to post-secondary education or employment during or 
after cancer treatment 
•Cancer survivors’ experiences in the role of caregiver to family during or 
after cancer treatment 

Manuscripts are encouraged in the following areas:
•Quantitative or qualitative research that provides evidence for the 
effectiveness of interventions that maximize successful return to work 
•Quantitative and qualitative research assessing measurement tools or 
methodologies for evaluating successful return to work during or after cancer 
treatment
•Literature reviews or systematic reviews related to cancer and work
•Description of innovative theoretical approaches to designing interventions 
that support work for cancer survivors 
•Case studies of interdisciplinary interventions that support cancer and work 

Important Dates 

Submission deadline: August 1, 2011 
Editorial feedback to authors: September 1, 2011

Authors are encouraged to submit a short 200 word description of the 
manuscript on or before May 15, 2011. The editors for the special issue will 
provide initial feedback by June 15, 2011.

Guest editors will offer initial feedback and suggestion revisions with a blind 
review to follow.
