Position: Assistant/Associate Tenure-Track Professor. The position will begin September 1, 2011.
Qualifications: Applicants must have an earned doctorate in counseling, psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy or a closely related field (or anticipated completion by August, 2011). Applicants must have demonstrated the potential to maintain an active program of scholarly research and grant writing related to the substance abuse counseling field. Successful candidates will have demonstrated an ability and commitment to online pedagogy.
Responsibilities: Responsibilities include teaching both undergraduate and graduate substance abuse counseling courses online, program development activities, sustained productivity and growth in research and grant writing, student research mentorship, and service to the Substance Abuse Counseling Program, School, University, and profession. Faculty members are expected to contribute to an interdisciplinary environment of research, instruction, and community collaborations.

Description: The University of Cincinnati (www.uc.edu<http://www.uc.edu>), a comprehensive university classified with very high research activity, is part of the Ohio state university system with approximately 40,000 students in attendance (9,000 graduate students). Located within the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services, the School of Human Services includes programs with an interdisciplinary emphasis in prevention, applied research, and positive community outcomes. Among the School programs are Substance Abuse Counseling, Counseling, Health Education, and School Psychology. The School currently offers a bachelor's in substance abuse counseling as well as masters' and doctoral degrees in counseling (CACREP accredited) and related programs (graduate degrees in School Psychology and Health Promotion and Education). The program anticipates offering a post-master's certificate in substance abuse counseling in 2011 as well as a graduate substance abuse prevention certificate. The School is a leader in online learning.
Locale: Cincinnati is a thriving metropolis of 2.1 million people, located on the Ohio River at the juncture of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. As the largest metropolitan area in Ohio, Cincinnati offers a wide variety of cultural, recreational and social events including ballet, symphony, professional theater, museums, professional sports, and an outstanding zoo and aquarium.
