CACREP SEEKS STUDENT TO COORDINATE SPECIAL PROJECT

The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs
(CACREP) announces a new opportunity for students to assist with special
projects related to accreditation and the counseling profession. This
unique opportunity is for students currently enrolled in CACREP accredited
master's or doctoral degree programs. Students will gain first hand
experience with CACREP's quality assurance function at both the national and
international level. A $1,000 stipend is offered for each project
opportunity posted.

The CACREP Board has determined that the first special project will focus
on the relationship between CACREP's accreditation of school counseling
programs and counselor credentialing. The project will require the
selected student to conduct research on school counselor credentialing
issues and develop a proactive plan of action for CACREP to address any
issues or concerns. The student's work will be supervised by CACREP's
President and CEO, Dr. Carol Bobby, whose doctoral degree is in counselor
education. CACREP is willing, if so desired, to work with a student's
preparation program to determine whether the student can receive credit
(e.g., independent study, special internship) for this experience.

The selected student will possess the following qualifications:

. Is an advanced master's level student or is a doctoral student in
a CACREP accredited program (preference will be given to applicants with a
background in or focus on school counseling)

. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills

. Pays high level of attention to details and accuracy of
information

. Can commit to an average of 5-10 hours per week for the duration
of the project

. Is organized and able to work independently and from a distance

. Is willing to travel occasionally, as needed and at CACREP's
expense, to CACREP's offices in Alexandria, VA for direction and
supervision.

To apply, students should submit the following electronically to
cacrep at cacrep.org by 5:00 PM EST on Monday, March 15, 2009:

1) A cover letter addressed to Dr. Carol Bobby describing the student's
interest in serving as a Special Project Coordinator

2) A writing sample on a topic related to school counseling

3) Two (2) letters of endorsement from faculty members in your program

4) A current copy of the applicant's CV or resume.

Preference will be given to applicants whose complete application

packets are received by the March 15th deadline date.
