[Classclimate-users] Reboot Today at Noon

I just put Class Climate in maintenance mode.  Please finish what you are doing and log out.  If you get any calls from faculty or students, let them know that the system will become available again this afternoon.

We need to complete the reboot as soon as possible in order to allow the system to function effectively, as it is running so slowly for some that it’s throwing errors and won’t complete tasks.  To address your specific concerns, we will be initiating Maintenance Mode in Class Climate at 11:50 AM in order to warn users who are in the process of completing an evaluation that they need to finish their current evaluation and log out.  New surveys will not be initiated (students who attempt to open a survey while the system is in maintenance mode should receive a message that the system is unavailable for a short period of time).  Once all existing sessions have been terminated naturally, the reboot will be initiated.  In this way, we hope to prevent any loss of data.

Laura,

Could the reboot happen at midnight or some other time during the night?  I’m worried that we will lose students’ comments if they are working on evaluations at the time of the reboot.  And, if they completed it once or thought they had, I’m not certain they will go back and do it again.

To address slowness issues within the Class Climate application, we will need to reboot the server today at noon. Please have all work completed, saved and be logged out of the application by 11:50 A.M. this morning.

I'll send out an email once the reboot has been completed and users can begin using the application. This work should take no longer than 15 minutes.
