[Classclimate-users] Survey Emails

Paula and Class Climate users,
What I suspect is happening with some of your emailed surveys not making it to students is that the OU mail server, for whatever reason, is flagging some of them as spam. I’ve had this happen with some of the emailed results that I have Class Climate send to instructors, but I’ve not seen it happen yet with emails to students asking them to take the survey. Then again, how would we know if some students didn’t get the survey?

Here’s what I’d suggest you do if you have evidence that this has happened: Log an issue in OIT’s Footprints database noting the following:

·         Recipient(s) email address(es) who failed to receive the Class Climate email

·         When the email was sent (hour and minute – Class Climate records this info)

·         What the subject line of your email was

·         The name of the sender: Class Climate

The OIT folks who maintain the mail server are able to “push through” any emails from your batch that have been flagged as spam. They did this for me. The important thing is to get the issue logged in Footprints so there’s a record of it. Then maybe someone, sometime, somehow figure out why these emails from Class Climate are getting randomly flagged.

I have also had this problem. When I went in to send reminders, I noticed in most of our classes that only a portion of passwords had been sent out. I had to send the original email to the students who hadn't received the initial one. Of course, this was already late in the game. I couldn't understand why our return rate was so low, so I started poking around and that's what I found. Irritating!!  I am not at my work computer at the moment, but would be happy to explain how I got to that info if it would be helpful.

When this happened to me, I would check their email that Class Climate had listed and sent it to and found that it looked like a faculty email address.  I had to send them their information by regular email.

Yes. A few were forwarding their OU email to another email account. Most were able to find the email when they went to their OU email account. It just had not forwarded. Others, however, did not use a different email account and state that they did not receive it, have looked and cannot find it.  My understanding was that I was not able to ‘re-generate’ that email.

I get a sampling of students who say they never received the email telling them to do the survey or give them the login info. I'm getting a message saying there is a mail problem but I cant' figure out what it's telling me. Does anyone else have this problem?
