[ASU] Bose Questions and the Dust Raised

Fellow members,
Some of us have been following the various postings submiited to this forum with
a high level of interest. It is obvious that not everyone will agree with some
of the various points of views expressed, and the manner in which they are done.
But we all agree that that is one aspect of the beauty of democracy unless such
expressions are submitted in manner that defy decorum.

The electoral committee has came out to support such submissions on the list
serve because they also rightly see it as a healthy exercise for the impending
debate and elections.

The problem arises when, because we have a dissenting view of how or when an
opinion is expressed, we want to cap it in stereotypical terms. That to me is
what the last posting did by indicating, perhaps sarcastically, that some of the
responses are " Very African, yes very Africanist indeed". This is surely an
iterative stereotype jacket that is normally put on Africa.

Please, let everyone have the freedom to express their opinion. We shouldn't let
people be held hostage by their opinions because they dared to express them.

We are all looking forward to the debate with so much enthusiasm and earnest
partly because the various submissions posted on this forum.

Thanks
Andy
