Hello,

Student activists across North America have spent the past several years fighting for affordable, public education against the neoliberal policies of the political elite. The most inspiring moment of this international struggle to date took place during the 2012 Quebec student strike in which hundreds of thousands of students spent months protesting a proposed tuition increase, rocking the political status quo to its core in the process.

This June 19-22, college students from across the United States, Mexico and Canada will be meeting in Montreal, Quebec for the first-ever Montreal Student Movement Convention. This presents a historic opportunity in the fight for free and liberating public higher education by providing the space for students to share stories, strategies and tactics that can be used to fight and win! For more information, visit the website here: http://msmc2014.ca/

There is significant interest from Ohio University students to attend this convention. Currently, we are organizing a contingent of up to 12 students to attend the convention at no personal cost! If you are interested in attending the convention, please sign up by responding to this email by Friday, May 23!

*** A passport is required for this trip in order to re-enter the United States. If you do not possess a current passport, you MUST apply for an expedited passport before Friday, May 23 here: http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/passports/services/expedited.html If you have any questions or require assistance with applying for your passport, feel free to contact Tyler Barton at 419-819-8266<tel:419-819-8266> or tyler45701 at gmail.com<mailto:tyler45701 at gmail.com>.
