<span>Ohio University Survivor Advocacy Outreach Program in Dire Need of Hotline Volunteers</span><br>

<span>Volunteer Training Program to be Held March 10 – March 31</span><br>
<br>
<span>ATHENS OHIO, March 10 – March 31. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4pm – 6:30pm, and Saturdays 9:30am – 6:30pm.</span><br>
<span>Ohio University Survivor Advocacy Outreach Program (OUSAOP) will be holding a 40 hour volunteer training in March to train hotline volunteers, hospital accompanists and legal advocates. Trainees will learn to provide immediate emotional and informational
support to people affected by rape and sexual assault.</span><br>
<span>Sexual assault and rape have been constantly in the news, and many people wonder what they can do to help. OUSAOP works to provide much needed services to local survivors in Athens, Meigs and Perry Counties.</span><br>
<span>Part of the role of advocates at OUSAOP is to provide the resources necessary for survivors and co-survivors to make their own decisions on how to move forward after being exposed to intimate violence, helping put the power back into the survivor’s hands.</span><br>
<span>Trainee’s learn essential crisis management skills and become familiar with local victim services agencies and protocol’s.</span><br>
<span>Past volunteers have spoken about what a life changing experience it is to provide direct, compassionate services to people in this time of need.</span><br>
