NW Athens Bikeway Spur Riparian Planting

The City of Athens is hosting a planting day on April 7, 2015 for the NW Athens Bikeway Spur riparian restoration efforts.  The property for the NW Athens Bikeway Spur, adjacent to Armitage Road, SR 682, and the Hocking River, was purchased using Clean Ohio Conservation Funds. Later this year the bikeway will be constructed to connect the West State Street Park to Armitage Road.

The riparian restoration efforts will begin at noon and last until approximately 4 pm, a second planting session will be held from 5 pm to approximately 8 pm.   The City will have some tools available for use.  Interested volunteer parties are encouraged to wear workclothes, waterproof boots, and to bring tools for planting as well as water and a snack.

Parking for the planting activity is available at West State Street Park, or along Armitage Road.  Volunteers are encouraged to carpool, as space on Armitage Road is limited.
