Area Stream flood monitoring tools

With the current flood-potential event, many of our subscribers are
interested in more closely monitoring river levels in Southeast Ohio
and adjacent West Virginia.

If you are concerned with the Hocking River watershed, the near
real-time hourly stream gauge readings for Athens, Glouster and
Enterprise (Logan) are available at:  http://w8kvk.com/hr .
These gauges are read at the top of the hour, but due to the
volume of data, usually don't update on the displays until
the bottom of the hour.  The "Hydrographs" for each of these
stations provides useful rise-rate and forecast data.

If you are outside the Hocking River Watershed, the following
USGS online services may be of value:

WATERALERT: which allows you to receive text or email when a given
stream reaches or exceeds a Stage or Flow value you specify; and

STREAMAIL: which allows you to query a specific stream gage
by text or email to request its most recent Stage & Flow values.
