An active weekend expected across the middle Ohio Valley into the central Appalachians with risk for severe thunderstorms, heavy rainfall and potential flooding. Temperatures will remain very warm and humid with highs in the mid 80s to low 90s. Maximum heat index values will peak around 100 degrees over the Tri-State area this afternoon, and in the mid to upper 90s elsewhere across the lowlands each afternoon this weekend. The cold front triggering all the thunderstorms, will move through Sunday night, but one last round of thunderstorms is possible Monday afternoon and evening, as a second cold front moves through. Cooler, refreshing canadian air brings relief from the heat, humidity, and the thunders torms, during the middle of next week. It will warm up again, ahead of another cold front expected to arrive late next week, but another shot of cooler, less humid air is expected next weekend. ===================================================================== The "StormFlood" Listserv is a regional preparedness and planning partnership including Ohio University Risk Management and Safety. http://www.ohio.edu/riskandsafety/ Affiliated web services: Southeast Ohio Flood Potential Monitoring page: http://seorf.ohiou.edu/xx073/floodprep.html Athens Co.
