There is still time to submit research papers for the scholarly papers session at the NASPA Region IV-East annual conference in November.

The deadline for submitting papers for review is Monday, July 27th. Please see the information below for more details.

Call for Region IV-E Research Papers for presentation at the regional conference November 8-10th, 2015 in

Schaumburg, Illinois.

All faculty, practitioners, and graduate students in NASPA Region IV-East are invited to submit proposals to present and discuss their scholarly papers. Not to be confused with the traditional conference educational programs, this is an opportunity to present scholarly and research papers for in-depth discussion. Scholarly paper sessions will be 60 minutes in length and feature three papers, discussant comments, and an open-dialogue period with the audience. This is a great opportunity for researchers to present original work and for discussants to provide critiques in an innovative, yet structured environment. The intent is for authors to share their scholarly work and receive useful feedback in support of producing a publishable manuscript. All proposals will be screened blind by a team of reviewers*. A select few will be accepted for presentation andgrouped by theme. Papers selected for presentation will receive additional feedback and will be asked to submit a final draft to their discussant approximately 30 days before the 2015 Regional Conference in Schaumburg, Illinois.

Authors whose papers are accepted for presentation will be required to secure at least a one-day conference registration in order to present their paper.

Proposal Guidelines:

Initial Research Paper Proposals should be 15-20 double-spaced pages in length, complete with references. The proposal should "outline" the research process including: intent; relevance in terms of existing research and literature; methodology; and key findings. Successful proposals will demonstrate exemplary exploration of topics relevant to the NASPA Research and Scholarship Agenda, model a strong format/structure, and demonstrate polished mechanics.

Proposal Submission:

Paper proposals should be emailed directly to Bill Arnold, Faculty Council Representative, Region IV-E, at arnoldwh at msu.edu<mailto:arnoldwh at msu.edu> by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, July 27th.

Notification:

Authors of accepted papers will be notified by August 17th and receive additional feedback.

Final drafts will be due to discussants Friday, October 2nd.

*If you are interested in serving as a first-stage peer reviewer or as a discussant please communicate your interest in an email to arnoldwh at msu.edu<mailto:arnoldwh at msu.edu>
