Announcing the ACPA/NASPA Professional Competencies Task Force

Dear Katie,

We are excited to announce that the ACPA Governing Board and the NASPA Board of Directors have established the ACPA/NASPA Professional Competencies Task Force. The charge of the Task Force is to review, update, and revise the ACPA/NASPA Professional Competencies for Student Affairs Practitioners<http://myacpa.us7.list-manage2.com/track/click?u=ecdc1cf98fa8279a327c906f5&id=7aaf848bd3&e=9895dc73a3>, established and approved by both Boards in July 2010. Considered a seminal document in the student affairs profession, the competencies provide a guide for student affairs educators to frame their work. The work of both associations to update the competencies is crucial and will hopefully reflect the continued changing landscape in student affairs work.

In a collaborative and inclusive process, the ACPA and NASPA Boards charge the ACPA/NASPA Professional Competencies Review Task Force to scan the landscape of student affairs and higher education to ensure that the competencies are up-to-date with current scholarship and practice.

Of particular note, the ACPA and NASPA Boards charge the Task Force to review the threads of technology, sustainability, and globalism to determine whether these areas of practice require the creation of additional competency areas or a reframing of existing ones.

Finally, the ACPA and NASPA Boards charge the Task Force to determine if any of the content areas should be considered for removal or revision in order to provide a comprehensive set of competencies for student affairs practitioners in the modern era.

We are thrilled that the following members of our associations have answered the call to serve on this task force:
