Subject: Ecuador Service-learning Program

Hello HESA students: Please see the message below from Mike Hess and Sharon Reynolds, who will be leading the Ecuador program this summer.

Hello~

Are you a graduate student interested in service learning and education, higher education and student affairs, critical studies in education, international development or Latin American studies?

Service Learning in Ecuador is a unique and intensive two-week program during which we will work on community-driven service projects in rural southern Ecuador alongside members of the local communities. Through this asset-based approach you will not only ‘do’ service learning, but will learn about the pedagogy and practice of service learning. We will also learn about Ecuadorian culture through visiting historical and cultural sites near Quito. Personal reflection and group discussion are integrated pre-departure and throughout the program. Prepare to be transformed!

Join us for a brief information session on Jan 22 at 5:00pm in McCracken Room 104

Thank you!

Mike Hess and Sharon Reynolds
