Position Purpose


Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Health Promotions provides individual support services and crisis response care for sexual assault and helps design and support departmental wellness initiatives and programming at Dartmouth.

This is a one-year term live-in position with the possibility of reappointment for a second year.

Skills & Knowledge

*         Training in sexual assault and relationship violence
*         Proven record of successful educational outreach and program delivery, preferably in a college setting
*         Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
*         Sound judgment, initiative and discretion, and willingness to accept feedback from peers and supervisors
*         Excellent communication, collaboration, listening and interpersonal skills.
*         Demonstrated ability to foster positive and productive relationships with all campus constituencies, including students, administrators and faculty
*         Familiarity with the Dartmouth Committee on Standards procedures and legal options for survivors of sexual assault
*         Demonstrated cultural competence and proven effectiveness in serving the sexual abuse and relationship violence education and service needs of a diverse undergraduate and graduate student population
*         Ability to work nights and weekends for on-call responsibilities
*         Ability to live on campus

*         Experience as a first-responder to sexual assault
*         Demonstrated ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
*         Experience working in a complex organization and an understanding or larger institutional goals and objectives

Key Accountabilities
Key Accountabilities


Direct Service
*         Serves as a general resource, advocate and referral agent for students seeking sexual assault and relationship violence information and services.
*         Coordinates campus and community resources to support students who have experienced rape, sexual assault, sexual harassment, relationship violence and related abuse.
*         Demonstrates ability to maintain confidentiality and provides appropriate documentation of services.
*         Assists with monitoring of sexual assault incidents and initiates and/or recommends program changes that will provide improved advocacy and support to students.
*         In conjunction with other campus offices, assists with development of an annual report of numbers and types of cases occurring throughout the College, in conjunction with other campus offices (e.g., Clery Report).
*         Provides on-call crisis support.

Education and Outreach
*         Collaborates with health promotion staff and students implementing campus programming such as Take Back the Night, Consent Day, Speak-Out, screening days, the Dartmouth Bystander Initiative and other wellness activities.
*         Collaborates with peer educators including Sexual Assault Peer Advisors (SAPAs), Drug Abuse Peer Advisors, Eating Disorder Peer Advisors, Green Team and Mentors Against Violence (MAV) and other peer educators on logistical issues, and ongoing support of initiatives.
*         Creates and executes programmatic social marketing campaigns, tracks effectiveness and identifies improvements.
*         Participates in Dartmouth College Health Improvement Project team, the Sexual Assault Response Team.
