COORDINATOR – UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA, NEW STUDENT CONNECTIONS
New Student Connections seeks an enthusiastic individual to fill a Coordinator position in the office.  Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Coordinator assists with implementation of an integrated transition experience for first-year students during their initial year on campus that reflects the University’s mission and strategic priorities.  This position assists with initiatives that welcome entering and continuing students into the USF community and coordinates programs that support a new student’s adjustment and connection during the summer and initial weeks on campus.

Specific position responsibilities include:

·Week of Welcome – Manage the planning and execution of campus-wide shared experiences during Week of Welcome (1,000+ participants). Oversee student leader participation and staffing responsibilities. Manage the event submission process for program. Execute marketing campaign and prepare publication materials.  Solicit community sponsorships.

·Extended Orientation – CampU – Responsible for recruitment, training, advising, and evaluation of CampU executive board members and counselors. Oversee curriculum development and enhancements. Manage marketing & outreach efforts, student registration and communication, program material development, community sponsorship, and program logistics.

·Orientation – Responsible for recruitment, training, advising, and evaluation of PALs – Peer Advisor Leaders. Develop and facilitate orientation presentations, including a student-acted skit. Oversee NSC’s contributions to the department showcase experience and evening activities during first-year Orientation.

·Graduate Supervision – Supervise a graduate advisor and/or intern who is working towards a degree in higher education with regards to their CampU responsibilities. Provide guidance on day-to-day responsibilities, teach student development theory and concepts, and conduct performance evaluations.

·Office Management – Ensure a consistent presence at the front desk area. Responsible for recruitment, training, advising, and evaluation of front desk student assistants. Manage student leader pay, office coverage, and vacation requests. Oversee timesheet collection and submission process. Work closely with the profesisonal staff to maintain a $30,000 student leader payroll budget.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with at least one year of professional experience in student affairs.   Work experience may not be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree requirement for this position.  Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends is required. Masters degree in college student affairs, higher education, or related field (earned prior to start date) with 1-3 years of experience working in student affairs.  Proven experience working with a first-year student population, supervising students/student organizations, and direct experience with an extended orientation program or week of welcome programming is strongly preferred.  Demonstrated willingness and commitment to working with students, families, and university faculty/staff from diverse backgrounds in preferred.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS
Knowledge of student development theory and concepts, principles, and practices for success in student transitions programs.  Enthusiasm for the college experience and an understanding of the transformative role it plays in the lives of students.  Excellent project management skills, including the ability to set and adhere to strict timelines and propose and implement effective solutions to road blocks and problems.  Proven ability to perform in a student focused and fast-paced environment.  Ability to work as part of a team with a commitment to service and excellence.  Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.  Skill in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, faculty, and staff.  Proficient in Microsoft programs.
