RESPONSIBILITIES:       The incumbent will assist with the advising of first and second year undecided and pre-health professions students. Specific duties include: assisting students in defining their educational goals; advising students on university general education and graduation requirements; assisting students in developing course schedules to meet their educational and career goals; assessing and monitoring students’ progress toward degree completion; assisting with planning and logistics for advising programmatic efforts; teaching a three credit student success course; assisting with campus recruitment and retention efforts including open houses, orientation, and advisement programs; and performing other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Experience: Requires a Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred). Experience in a university environment with student advising and counseling and/or new student orientation preferred. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as, in a team environment. Familiarity with multimedia content, website development and social media outlets is desired. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is also desired. UMBC is a PeopleSoft school.
SALARY: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
