Assistant Director, Career Development
George Mason University, Career Development invites applications for the position of Assistant Director.

The Assistant Director for Career Development responds to student needs, facilitates/initiates appropriate and timely student services using fluid and multiple delivery modes, oversees services/resources for students and campus academic partnerships, assesses learning and service outcomes, improves services for students, supervises a minimum of six professional staff responsible for student career development, and contributes to the vision and strategic planning of Career Services.

Incumbent serves as a Career Services team member, conducts individual career and pre-professional counseling, interprets assessment instruments, plans and presents programs and workshops, coordinates events and activities, utilizes career technologies, develops print and virtual resources, and has direct contact with students and faculty on a regular basis in a variety of settings.

Qualifications:
- Experienced supervisor capable of training, mentoring, coaching and supporting professional career counselors ranging from entry-level to 15 + years of experience;
- Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, manage, evaluate and improve programs/events and projects; as well as handle multiple work priorities in a dynamic, changing environment;
- Excellent oral, written, online and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated individual counseling and coaching experience, and interpretation of assessment instruments;
- Possess excellent customer service and public relations skills, and a demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment;
- Sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to relate effectively with diverse populations;
- Experience developing, administering and presenting career programs, seminars and workshops;
- Effective collaboration and communication with students (undergraduate and graduate), faculty, administrators and external constituents;
- Awareness of changing economic and labor conditions. Current on career decision-making strategies, opportunities and barriers relevant to academic majors and student's career fields of interest; as well as employment and job search procedures and strategies for employment locally, nationally and globally; and
- Experience with information technology including use of the Internet as a tool; and familiarity with various word processing, database, spreadsheet and presentation programs are highly desirable.

Master's degree required, with preference given to degrees in a counseling-related and/or educational administration field. Five or more years of relevant professional experience is required, with preference given to individuals experienced in supervision of professional staff, career advising/counseling (individual and group), assessment for improvement of student career services and interventions, outreach to campus constituents/partners, and experiences related to career development needs of college students.
