POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF STUDENT INVOLVEMENT

JOB TITLE:                      Student Affairs Officer II (Assistant Director of Student Involvement)

DEPARTMENT:              Office of Student Involvement

DESCRIPTION:              The University of Kentucky is looking for an individual to assist in the overall advisement, coordination and management of the Office of Student Involvement and major event programming.  Work with the Student Activities Board, diverse student groups and university departments in major event and entertainment planning (homecoming, concerts, cinema, performing arts, art gallery curating, lectures, multicultural programs, etc.).  Directly responsible for entertainment contract negotiations.  Provides guidance and leadership to student organizations for planning and executing campus events encompassing cultural, entertainment, social, and recreational activities.  Assist Student Activities Board in comprising a c o-curricular calendar. Responsible for development, management, and presentation of seminars in leadership development, promotion and publicity, event planning, risk management, and personal development for student leaders and advisors.  Work closely with student led promotions, publicity, market research and design teams for major (and minor) campus and community programs. SKILLS/ABILITIES:         Ability to plan, organize, and execute special events/projects through working with and advising student led initiatives and student organizations is critical.  Related advisory and programming experience in Student Affairs/Student Activities is essential. Excellent oral and written communication skills are key.  Experience with budgeting tracking, assessment and/or promotional planning is preferred.

EDUCATION:                 A Master's Degree in Student Personnel/Student Affairs/Student Services or related field is required with one year of related work experience in student activities/programming.
