Job Description:
The Ohio University Division of Student Affairs seeks an energetic and
visionary leader to serve as the Director of University Judiciaries.
General duties include overseeing and administering all aspects of the
student conduct system, providing a developmental and educational context
for student behavior both on and off campus, and representing the
University and office to external constituencies and stakeholders.
The Director of University Judiciaries reports to the Assistant Dean of
Students for Student Services and is the primary administrator of Ohio
University's comprehensive student conduct system. The successful candidate
will have a proven track record of successful leadership in student affairs
and have a clear vision about the role of judicial affairs and its
relationship to student success and the overall functioning of the
University community. The Director must be innovative in addressing
contemporary issues related to student conduct and be able to use
technology in managing a large student judicial affairs program.
Functional Responsibilities
- Direct the overall operation of the university judicial system
- Serve as the chief student conduct hearing officer responsible for
hearing cases that may result in students' separation from the university
- Provide direct day-to-day supervision of one Assistant Director and one
full-time hearing officer, two graduate assistants, and 1.5 FTE classified
staff in the office.
- Supervise approximately 20 residential housing staff in their
responsibilities related to administering the university judicial process
in the residence halls
- Facilitate the appointment of university hearing board members and the
effective and efficient functioning of the hearing board and appeal board
processes.
- Consult with various university community constituents (ie. students,
Ohio University Police Department, faculty, regional campus judicial
representatives, legal affairs, dean of students, etc.) related to student
conduct on campus
- Serve as the custodian of student judicial records
- Advise the Assistant Dean of Students, the Associate Vice President &
Dean of Students, and the Vice President for Student Affairs and other
faculty and staff on matters related to student conduct policy
interpretation.
- Represent the university and the department to external constituencies
and stakeholders including parents, community members, city offices, and
the city police
- Consult with various constituents outside of the university community
(ie. city police, prosecutor's office, local judges, judicial officers at
other Ohio campuses, etc) on matters relating to student conduct
- Contribute to the overall administration of the division of student
affairs as a member of the functional management team
- Prepare and analyze reports regarding student misconduct
- Prepare, submit and defend annual budgets and carryout fiduciary
responsibilities
This position has an excellent benefits package; 100% tuition waiver for
self and family; 22 vacation days per year; and participation in state
retirement system (or approved alternative plan). The salary and terms of
this appointment are negotiable.

Minimum Qualifications:
Experience
Three years progressively responsible administrative experience in higher
education in positions which directly interact with a diverse student
population is required.
Education
A master's degree in Higher Education or College Student Personnel or
related field with knowledge of issues related to law in higher education,
particularly due process as it relates to the student conduct processes, is
required.
