Tomorrow, Tuesday April 11, we have an alum of Ohio University’s Math Dept (1963) coming to give a talk in honor of Leonhard Euler’s birthday and the publication of his new history of Leonhard Euler’s life. Dr. Ron Calinger has a PhD from University of Chicago and is Emeritus Professor of Catholic University in Washington, DC. The details of the talk are below. Please come! 4-5PM in Alden Library. It will be a relaxed but engaging interview format.

When:   Tuesday, April 12, 2016 from 4:00- 5:00 p.m.

Why:     Ohio University Libraries will welcome Dr. Ronald Calinger, alumnus (’63) and professor emeritus of history at the Catholic University of America, who will speak on the life, work and contributions of Swiss mathematician Leonhard Euler (1707-1783). Calinger, an expert in the history of mathematics and science from the 17th through 20th centuries, will also discuss his latest book titled, “Leonhard Euler: Mathematical Genius in the Enlightenment,” and will participate in a Q&A session with Dr. Bob Klein, associate professor of mathematics. Light refreshments will be served.
