After chapter last night i just started thinking about the issue of drinking within the fraternity.  i came to the conclusion that maybe a lot of it has to do with the "bro" culture that has for a lack of a better term infested the fraternity.  I think it started off last spring quarter when everyone laughed at the bro's by acting like them, but i think people are getting the wrong idea now.  I think that people are laughing with the bro's, and trying to reproduce what they see on TFM.com and anything else in the media.  I think the younger guys look at the older guys and don't realize that we're laughing at them.   I don't like that we have this attitude of we're better than everyone because we're greek, and we look down on everyone else.  the guys that started this fraternity started it because they didn't want to be bros, they wanted to make an actual difference.  I feel that we're turning into Beta or Delt and that in a few years that the values and morals that Ohio Nu was founded on will be gone.  I do see a lot of potential in the younger guys though, they're good people but I definitely feel we're giving the wrong impression to them on how to act.  I feel that the older guys have forgot what it is to be a real Phi Psi and we're not being the role models we should be.  Like i said during pass the gavel, we've lost sight of referring to our Phi Psi as a fraternity, not a frat.  when i was a freshman if one of the seniors heard me call us a frat they would let me know immediately thats not what we are.  I started to feel this way when I saw on facebook people were sending each other tfm's about hazing pledges and fucking slampieces.  We're a fraternity of gentlemen, not a frat of bros.  don't get me wrong, some of them are funny.  But like i said earlier, i believe the upper half knows we're laughing at them, and the younger half thinks we're trying to reproduce them.  Being a Phi Psi should give you confidence that you can succeed and rise above everyone through honorable actions, not a sense
of cockiness displayed through a culture that every other fraternity practices.  For now on I'm going to try to be a better role model for the younger guys and not practice anything bro related (other than dressing well with Ralph and Lacoste). I just wanted to tell you how I feel about the state of Phi Psi.
