First of all, thanks for all of the help this morning. We got a lot done, and it's been a pleasure working with all of you over this year!<br>
<br>
But unfortunately, I have to say, I am let down by the number of people who turned out (outside of sickness, which I hope you feel better). With a team of 16 people, we had 9 show. We needed at least 11. Seeing some people at both the lovely baby shower
(which was unbelievable, and we're so appreciative) and at the banquet (also lovely), but not show up to take care of the equipment makes me wonder about time management skills and whether we understand the priorities of this over social activities. We weren't
able to do the shed clean-out. Megan and Jill were there, two seniors who have no reason to be there other than a desire to finish out well, and many have rocked out some awesome post-season work. If you are new on the team, know that you are the future.
Now it's not that I don't care about the reasons people weren't there, but felt that I needed to let you know that the team will not function well if this doesn't improve.<br>

As a team, we need to be aware that without decent equipment, there is no OUWC (gatherings, medals, trips, etc.). Not only that, but a well-maintained boat and oars will make up seconds on the course. We had over a week to manage to dig out an hour and a half
from our schedules at 6:30 a.m. (which I'm pretty sure there were no other time commitments during). After having a great time with you last night and talking about dedication and what a good unit of support this team is, to show up this morning and wonder
whether or not we'd actually be able to get the boats onto the trailer was a bummer.

This also goes along with fundraising. If you want a boat that will take the team to the next level, or even have the option to cut the costs, you need to show. I'm not saying that I don't understand we may not be able to be at everything, or that academics
and family don't come first, but knowing that something needs to be taken care of means that we need to manage our time so that we can participate in those events. Please do so, and your teammates, times, and experience will be much better for it. I promise.<br clear="all">

Also, don't forget about recruiting. THIS IS IMPORTANT. Take 2 minutes to print out 10 fliers, and hang 2 and hand out 8 while you're walking around. The numbers will help with speed, friendships, fundraising, boat work, and the all around experience. When
I brought it up last night, I had a lot of diverted eyes. Why wouldn't you be excited to tell people about this sport that I hope you're proud to be a part? I LOVE telling people I had the chance to work with all of you, and rave about how great you all
are. Be willing to step up to the plate to make a difference, and be proud of yourself when you do. If you weren't there this morning, then I encourage you even more to do this. Your team needs your help. Even if you're not going to continue with the sport,
think of it as a chance to help the teammates who are. <br>
