BARE ON THE BRICKS

Dear Student Leaders,

The Student Alumni Board and Alpha Epsilon Pi would like to remind you and your student organization that Bare on the Bricks is coming up this Sunday, March 6th. Bare on the Bricks is a nearly naked mile and clothing drive. All clothing donated will benefit My Sister’s Place, and students in need at Athens County Schools.

Check-in, clothing collection, and day of registration will begin on March 6th at 11am. The nearly naked mile will begin at 1pm and end at Broney’s Alumni Bar and Grill for an after party and provided brunch. Participants are also invited to participate in contest categories of “Most OU Pride group/individual” and “Most Creative group/individual.” The first 400 registered participants will also receive a pair of retro tube socks with the Bare on the Bricks logo to commemorate the event.

Any student organization with a minimum of 10 participants registered by March 4th will be eligible for a sponsorship opportunity and their logo will be displayed on banners lining Court Street during the run.

ALTERNATIVE SPRING BREAK

Are you looking for a fun, alternate way to spend your Spring Break instead of sitting at home? Do you want to help out people in need? From March 19th-March 27th, The OU Campus Chapter of Habitat for Humanity will be heading to Miami, Florida to help build safe, decent, affordable homes for people in need with Miami’s Habitat affiliate. The total cost of the trip will be $295 plus the cost of food and is open to all OU Students! The $295 covers both transportation and lodging for the week. OHIO MEDICINE RUN

Ohio Medicine Run is an annual event put on by Ohio University's College of Osteopathic Medicine's honor fraternity Sigma Sigma Phi to promote a healthy lifestyle to the Athens community and to raise money for the OUCOM's free clinic. This year’s event will include a 5K Run/Walk and Children’s Obstacle Course.

Pre-Registration is due by Monday, March 21st (only $20 and includes a t-shirt)!

NSSL FIRST ANNUAL COMMUNICATION SCIENCES AND DISORDER AWARENESS WEEK

Ohio University's chapter of the National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association would like to invite you to our First Annual Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) Awareness Week, February 28 - March 4th, 2011. Please make sure to stop by our tables in Baker to learn about Communication Disorders, sample some sweet treats, and get more details about the other exciting events we are hosting.

On Thursday, March 3rd we are having a Communication Sciences Disorders Bash from 12-3pm on the 2nd floor Theatre Lounge in Baker Center. You can enjoy free food, play games, and enter to win free prizesdonated by local businesses around Athens! At this event, we will also have a Sponsored Silence activity with the Dean of Students, Ryan Lombardi! He will be taking an oath of silence for 15 minutes, vowing only to use an alternative and augmentative communication device to interact with students.

Lastly, we are very pleased to invite you to our guest speaker on Friday March 4th at 7pm in the Baker Ballroom. Tim Berta is a survivor of the 2007 Bluffton Bus crash. He will be sharing his story of recovery and the incredible resilience of the human body. Also ESPN will be there to videotape Tim's presentation for an ESPN E:60 video! It is our hope that after attending the events during the week, students will be aware of communication disorders and the impact they can have on an individual’s daily life.
