Subject: A Thank You from OU's Relay for Life

Dear Fellow Bobcats,

Some of you may remember me from the numerous emails you received last year regarding Ohio University's Relay for Life, but for those who do not my name is Maddie Stevens and I was the president of Relay for the 09-10 school year. I've passed on my duties to two new presidents, Courtney Bailey and Natalie Myers, and we're all very excited to get this year started in the fight against cancer.

This email's goal is to send my sincere and profuse THANKS to you and your organization's members for helping to make the 09-10 Relay for Life such a success. Our event, which took place on May 21-22, was a nerve-wracking one for me, filled with terrible storms and technical difficulties, ending with a total of $48,000 raised up until that point... Some are unaware, however, that our fundraising year actually doesn't end until August, and to my excitement we ended up raising much more than that $48,000 over the summer. At the end of our fiscal year, we ended up surpassing our total for the 08-09 Relay and raising over $60,000 for the American Cancer Society! This was a huge surprise to me, and learning this information was a great way for me to begin this year. You are the ones who did this; it had very little to do with me (no matter how many emails I sent out)! Please, extend my gratitude to your organization members, your family and friends, and all of your loved ones who assisted in making this possible. Our campus should be so proud of all that we've done to put an end to cancer, and I hope that you'll join me and the rest of our Relay for Life Planning Committee in continuing the battle.

Thanks again, and I look forward to working with you this year.
