Greetings!
I am forwarding this E-mail although everyone should have received it from Dave Edwards at Athens Veterans Center. But it is important information about benefits - things you need to know and keep up on. The more we know, the better off we are!
Take Care,
Mary Ann

Subject: MUST READ: Submitting Tuition and Fees for the Spring Semester For Chapter 33 Students

Good Morning Everyone,

As you know, this fall we submitted certifications to the VA in 2 phases: 1) your hours first so your monthly housing allowance and book stipend could be processed and started; and 2) starting week #4 submitting tuition and fees so the VA can pay the university. We will continue this process in the spring semester. Having said that I wanted to provide you information from the Bursar Office:

Bursar Office: Late Fees/Posting of VA Payments to Accounts:

Tuition charges will be submitted to the VA beginning week 4 of the semester. Late fees will be suspended while awaiting payment from the VA. We are anticipating to receive tuition payment from the VA in weeks 6-7 of the semester. You will continue receiving billing notifications until your balance is paid in full. Charges certified for Post 9/11 payments include tuition, mandatory fees, class fees, and student health insurance. The nonresident tuition fee is not eligible for payment. If there are multiple class start dates, multiple payments will be received.

If you receive financial aid, the financial aid payments will apply to your student account charges. Once the payment from the VA is received for tuition, it will apply to the tuition charges. The financial aid will then apply to any other outstanding charges for the semester or will be refunded if there is a credit balance.

REMEMBER: If you are NOT at 100% you must pay whatever percentage portion you owe. For example, if you are at 90%, you will need to pay the 10% of the total bill--your portion of the payment.

As you can see it is VERY important for you to pay attention to emails from any of the 3 offices that collaborated on this email: Veterans Center, Financial Aid and Bursar.

If you have parents that check on the status of things on your behalf, ENSURE you forward this email to them.

Additionally, a separate email will be sent to those students who did receive federal aid regarding the Short Term Loan process.

Thank you,

Dave Edwards
