Task-oriented= (Structural lens) Rational systems, goal oriented

--There is a direct intersection with active management (micro-managing)

--Intersection at nomothetic (law, rule based)

Challenges= 1. employees will be unsatisfied

2. Human side will be forgotten

3. Morale and work environment could be poor

Relations-oriented- (Human resource lens) Natural system

Intersection at transformational leadership and at idiographic systems (individual needs)

Contingent rewards intersection (rewards/incentives)

Challenges= 1. If you are too relationship oriented then it could lead to lack of expectations

2. Not meeting/having clear expectations

3. If your continuously offering incentives then it will diminish intrinsic motivation

Change oriented-- (all 4 lenses must intersect in order to have success with long-term change)

Intersection with Transformational

Challenges--1. Culture pulling back (getting the bottom to commit)--adaptation

2. People giving up because of the difficulty of maintaining change.

3. Dealing with issues that were not anticipated--- need immediate action.
