Athens Campus – Scheduled Power Outages


Ohio University’s Facilities Management and Safety has scheduled a series of widespread electrical outages on the Athens Campus to allow for improvements to the campus electrical distribution system.

The intent of these efforts is to provide an opportunity to perform preventative maintenance, upgrade equipment in the main electric substation. The dates for the outages are provided below and have been carefully scheduled during non-business hours during Spring Break to minimize impact to the Ohio University community.


  *   Outage #1:  Monday, March 9th, 2020
     *   Start:  5:00 a.m.
     *   Complete:  6:00 a.m.
     *   Total Duration:  1 hour


  *   Outage #2:  Monday, March 16, 2020
     *   Start:  5:00 a.m.
     *   Complete:  6:00 a.m.
     *   Total Duration:  1 hour

Buildings and areas that will not be impacted by the planned outage include:

  *   Academic & Research Center

  *   Bird Arena

  *   Boyd Hall

  *   Boyd I Substation

  *   Boyd II Substation

  *   Boyd III Substation

  *   Brown Hall

  *   Carin Strength Training Center

  *   Carr Hall

  *   Clippinger Laboratories

  *   Clippinger Switch

  *   Convocation Center

  *   Crawford Hall

  *   Dougan House

  *   Ewing House

  *   Facilities Yard Switch

  *   Golf and Tennis Shop
