[Ohk12admins] Update: Education Public Policy Leadership Certificate admission cycle has changed!

Hello educators,

I wanted to be certain you are aware of an exciting update about the Education Public Policy Leadership Certificate: The next cohort will begin in the summer! The program’s admission cycle was changed to better accommodate PreK-12 educators, but the format remains the same: One year of fully online study culminates with a three-day networking residency in Washington, D.C.
Apply by April 10, 2020<https://www.ohio.edu/graduate/apply/apply-certificate-or-endorsement> to join the second cohort, which begins online coursework on May 11.

While elected officials are creating policies that they feel are in the best interest of our future generations, too often, those policies are designed to treat only the symptoms of a problem that needs to be addressed at a systemic level.

Our nation’s policy-making agencies desperately need to incorporate the experiences and opinions of K-12 educators. You and your colleagues bring the boots-on-the-ground, hands-on perspective that can create policy that actually effects meaningful change.

We firmly believe that equipping educators to engage in the policy-making process is the best way to make sure that your voices are heard. And that is the goal of the Education Public Policy Leadership Certificate: To make sure your valuable voices are heard in the venues where change is created.

Whether your goal is the school board, city hall, or Capitol Hill, the EPPLC can help you:

  *   Gain understanding of the policy-making process
  *   Learn to develop a strong persuasive argument in support of a cause you choose
  *   Conduct hands-on advocacy for the policy passion of your choice
  *   Meet face-to-face with legislators and their staff
