1.  There will be no EcoLunch this week.  We have been organizing EcoLunch to occur towards the end of the semester this Fall, so please keep your eyes out for those announcements.  I have added the schedule below, please let me know if you would like to sign
 up for a slot.</p>

2.  This year's Darwin Lecturer is Douglas Futuyma.  His talk, titled "Controversies in Evolutionary Biology," will be held on Thursday, October 15th at 6:30 PM in 135 Walter Hall.  All are invited to attend this free talk.  Please see the attached PPT flyer
 and help us advertise the talk to your students and friends.</p>

3. In preparation for Doug's visit, the PORG journal club will be reading his 2010 paper on evolutionary constraints, titled "Evolutionary Constraint and Ecological Consequences."  You are invited to read the paper and join in on the discussion on Friday, October
 9th from 2:00–2:50 in 429 Porter Hall.  The citation is below and the paper is attached. </p>

4.  Although we have not sent out the official GRFP call, it is time to start thinking about submitting a proposal to The Reilly and Roosenburg Graduate Research Fellowship Program.  The Fellowship provides an RA for one semester to allow graduate students
 to conduct off-campus research.  Proposals will not be due until the beginning of next semester, but it is never too early to start thinking about putting together a competitive proposal. </p>
