Howdy Folks,
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Several weeks ago we voted on the Darwin Speaker, but we’ve been waiting to make an announcement until we had our ducks in a row. It took some time, but they are not mostly lined up. The runaway winner was Dr. Doug Tallamy!  Here is the write-up on his
 research we originally presented:</div>

<div>Doug Tallamy is an insect ecologist and conservation activist.  He is internationally recognized for his work on the ecology and evolution of insect-plant interactions (over 100 publications).  More recently, he has become known for promoting the Home
 Grown National Park, a grass-roots campaign to encourage homeowners to convert suburban lawns to wilder habitat landscaped with native plants to support biodiversity and ecosystem function. He has authored several books, including the New York Times best seller
 'Nature’s Best Hope' and several other books such as 'Bringing Nature Hope', 'The Living Landscape', and 'The Nature of Oaks', and has developed an ambitious social media presence for the Home Grown Natl Park.  He's a sought-after speaker and would have appeal
 to gardeners, native plant enthusiasts, etc. in the broader Athens community.</div>

<div><b>We are happy to announce that Dr. Tallamy will be the Darwin Speaker in 2025!!!!  </b>But because his schedule is very, very, very, very busy, we had to agree on a fall talk. He’ll be joining us in mid-October 2025, which in my (biased) view is the
 loveliest time of the year.  We’ll be in touch in Fall, 2025 about his talk and all the details. Thank you to everyone who voted!</div>

</div>
<div>Also, have a great holiday break!!!!!!!</div>
