I wanted to let you know that I will be teaching PBIO4200 this Spring semester; this course is offered every other spring. This would be a great course for any student interested in aquatic sciences and would complement the Bios courses Aquatic Biology and
ichthyology. We typically spend the 1<sup class="">st</sup><span class="apple-converted-space"> </span>half of the semester surveying all the groups of organisms that fall under the catch all of ‘Algae’ (they include many distantly related lineages that have
acquired photosynthesis such as diatoms, kelps, dinoflagellates, green algae and of course my favs red algae). The 2<sup class="">nd</sup><span class="apple-converted-space"> </span>half we focus on ecological importance, freshwater ecology/biomonitoring with
field trips/labs focused on vernal pools, ponds and streams around campus. <span style="font-size: 12pt;" class=""><o:p class=""></o:p></span></div>
